Effect of Leadership Style on Employee Motivation – A Case Study of RS Connect Ltd (2017)

This dissertation sought to establish the relationship between the style of leadership and the motivation of employees. The role of an employee within an organization is core to the performance of an organization. As such, understanding the leadership styles that motivate employees is essential for organization leaders who focus on the future growth of a given company. A study on call centre employees in RS Connect Ltd, a company in Birmingham, UK was undertaken. A qualitative design was used to collect, analyse and present the results. Interviews were selected as the best method of undertaking the study with the help of a semi-structured questionnaire.

A sample of 12 respondents was selected randomly to avoid bias. A majority of the respondents were of the opinion that they relate well with the leadership and it does address their issues fairly satisfactorily. However, a significant number opined that the leadership had neglected the motivation aspect of the employees, which had affected their output.
