Health and Safety Participation within the Construction Industry Dissertation – Since the 1970’s there have been many developments in health and safety around the world; particularly in Britain. Between 1970 and 2009 a series of Health and Safety regulations declared officially by The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) were focused on the participation and responsibility of workers in health and safety activities such as management, performance, productivity. In construction, as well as other industries, these regulations have helped in many ways to improve health and safety performance.
Worker participation in health and safety is commonly considered as the most central fundamental for achieving health and safety performance in all types of construction industries. Such participation might look different structurally, but its regulation and management generally have similar methods across a range of industries. Participation and the collaboration efforts between workers and management, provide a greater opportunity for improvement of construction performance when compared to the traditional approach to management.
The construction industry is an important industry and its products and services affect everyone. The Construction industry uses a large range of hands on workers, which results in many categories of workers such as professionals, skilled and unskilled workers needing to work together.
